
Marine Advanced First Aid course
Ynot Sailing in Conjunction with Life Link is pleased to offer this course that is recognised by Transport Canada.
This course is for the recreational boater or professional mariner and deals with the most common types of boating related medical emergencies.
It covers a greater range of topics and in more depth than the standard First Aid and CPR course and requires 16 hours to complete.
Students gain an understanding of first aid principles and specific safety information related to the marine environment.
Training includes:
- Anatomy and Physiology
- Emergency Scene Management
- Shock, Unconsciousness & Fainting
- Artificial Respiration (Adult & Child)
- Choking (Adult &child)
- Severe Bleeding
- Cardiovascular Emergencies and One Rescuer CPR (Adult & Child)
- Two rescuer CPR (Adult & Child)
- Secondary Survey
- Bone and Joint injuries to the upper limbs (& muscle strains)
- Bone and Joint injuries to the lower limbs
- Head, Spinal and Pelvic injuries
- Wound care
- Rescue carries
- Burns
- Poisons, Bites and Stings
- Environmental Illnesses and Injuries
- Medical Conditions (Diabetes, convulsions, asthma & allergies)
- Marine Environment Familiarization
- Medical Evacuation by Helicopter & Ship
- First Aid Kits
- AR for a Stoma
- Examination of a Casualty
- Intro to Pharmacology
- Radio Medical Advice
