Crysler Park Marina

Sailing out of CPMWhat a jewel! This is one of the best marinas we have ever visited. Purely by coincidence it is also the harbour out of which our first sailing adventure in Canada was achieved on a friend's Tanzer 22. Little did we dream back then that we would have a boat in there some day.

The marina is part of the St. Lawrence Parks commission and is located very close to Upper Canada Village (a must see). It is situated between Cornwall and Morrisburg off highway 2. It takes about 90 minutes from Montreal and about an hour from Ottawa.

The atmosphere in the marina is very community oriented. Although there are more power boats than sail boats everybody pitches in and helps each other when required. Drop in and visit us. We are on B dock.

Gananoque

Gananoque MarinaThe 5 day "cruise and learn" format and some of the 2 weekend "cruise and learn" format courses start and end in Gananoque - the heart of the picturesque 1000 Islands. Gananoque is approximately 3 hours from Montreal and 2 hours from Ottawa.

If you decide to arrive the evening before the course start day we will probably spend the evening in the Gananoque Marina. You will be asked to pay the marina fee and buy the skipper a couple of beers while having dinner in a local hotel. All other evenings except the wednesday (see below) will be spent at anchor.

1000 IslandsThe 1000 Islands provide several safe and picturesque places to anchor for the night. The "formal" part of the training day usually ends at about 5 pm when we then go into "cruise" mode.

Island visits, swimming, snorkeling, relaxing, and just plain enjoying being outside on the water are all possible. This is a wonderful way to not only learn to sail but also experience a small taste of the cruising life style. Be warned you may find this addictive and want to come again.

Kingston

On the Wednesday of your 5 day "cruise and learn" course we usually take a short cruise to Kingston providing adequate progress is being made and the weather is cooperating. If you have completed the Coastal Navigation course you will be given the opportunity to put into practice what you learned in the classroom.

Bre PubWe usually dock in Confederation Basin in downtown Kingston. You are free to spend the evening as you wish. The skipper usually has dinner in his favourite pub; The Kingston Brew Pub and you are welcome to join him if you wish. Dragon's Breath Real Ale is recommended. There are several good restaurants of all types and price ranges; after all Kingston is both a university town and one of Ontario's major tourist cities.

When Wanjira accompanies Tony to Kingston she spends time on her private meditation rock on the waterfront. She is completely concealed from passers by and finds it an ideal location in which to meditate in the early morning. Perhaps you will find your own meditation rock.

Take a look at the schedules page to see if there is a "cruise and learn" course that fits you schedule. If not call or email to let us know your preference and we will do what we can to accomodate you.
